There are a number of different operators who provide transport to the various Southern Lakes Ski Areas. Operators who take you to the Wanaka fields need to take a seat reservation the evening prior. For Queenstown fields, there is a scheduled hotel pick-up service which doesn't need to be booked in advance at all. For full information, combo's and pricing you can check out the websites of each of the companies listed below.

Here follows a little summary of the main options - hoping to help you get pointed in the right direction!

CORONET PEAK & THE REMARKABLES:-

THE SKI SHUTTLE - calls at a large number of Queenstown hotel's and also picks up at the Station Building in town. Return tickets can be purchased @ $25 for adults and $20 for kids, from most hotel concierge or directly at The Station. Multi ride tickets are also available @ $68 for 6 rides or $105 for 10 rides. The price is the same for both Coronet Peak and Remarkables.

Combo lift and bus tickets are no longer available for 2008 season.

You might want to note that although skiing at the Remarkables & Coronet Peak is free for kids 6 years and under, a bus ticket is still required for all children 5 to 17 years. A regular child return ticket costs $20.

You don't need to make a reservation for transport with Ski Shuttle, however you do need to purchase a ticket in advance. Drivers NO LONGER SELL TICKETS in an effort to make the service more efficient. Tickets are available from Hotels and at The Station in town.

TAXI's are also happy to take you, or a group of you, to the Ski Areas. It costs aprox $55 for up to 4 people to go up to Coronet Peak, or $65 for a mini bus which can take 5 to 11 people. These prices are one way although you can book a car or van to collect you when you are ready to get off the mountain as well.

CARDRONA ALPINE RESORT:-

INFO & TRACK provide a service departing at 07.30 and costing $ (tbc) per adult and $ (tbc) per child. They require reservations the day prior which can be made up until 9pm. They also do hotel pick-ups. If you want a day lift pass as well as transport, the combo costs $ (tbc) for an adult and $ (tbc) for a child. There is a second bus called "The Late Rider" which leaves from downtown only at 9.45am, and gives you a cost saving of $(tbc) on the combo ticket. We can sell this combo ticket if you are interested, when you come into the shop for a custom fitting or some retail therapy.

SERIOUS FUN SNOW SHUTTLES also go to Cardrona. They too need advance bookings and the cost isi $ (tbc) per adult and $ (tbc) per child. Their buses depart between 7.40 and 8am.

TREBLE CONE & SNOW FARM/SNOW PARK:-

SNOWSHUTTLES offer return transport for $ (tbc) per adult and $ (tbc) per child and go to either TC, Snow Park and also Cardrona. They also require booking the evening before travel and their buses depart between 8 and 8.30am.

RENTAL CARS:-

Don't forget if you are renting a vehicle to ask for it to be "skierised". This means that you want chains and a roof rack.

Whether you have a rental or your own car, it is ESSENTIAL TO CARRY CHAINS pretty much all season long. Don't under estimate how quickly and dramatically the weather can change in the mountains -and for heavens sake - DO put the chains on when you are directed to do so in the interest of everyones safety! Most service stations in town hire out chains. Cost depends on the particular chains needed. A deposit is generally also required.
